GENERIS – Inverter Revolution
AC–DC–AC inverters become AC–AC inverters
- No DC link circuit → No electrolytic components (capacitors)
- Converts 3-phase alternating current directly into variable 3-phase output → Higher efficiency and longer service life → Lower operating costs
- Full 4-quadrant control as standard
- Please note: Very simple feed-back of braking energy into the grid as standard → no more braking resistors
- Better control behaviour in terms of speed, torque and position
- Permanent full torque at n = 0

With standard converters, the input voltage, AC 50/60 Hz, must be converted into a direct voltage, DC link. Only then can the variable output voltage for the motor be generated. When the motor is braked, the braking energy that cannot be compensated by the DC link must be ‘destroyed’ in braking resistors
→ In addition to the unused energy, this results in additional hardware and installation costs.
If you want to feed braking energy back into the grid, you have to use active front end (AFE) converters, which consist of two converters arranged back-to-back. This arrangement causes increased harmonic distortion, which is reduced by means of additional chokes.
The Generis converter offers a revolutionary new solution to all these problems.

Generis uses a unique, patented switching technology that has only one power stage and no longer has a DC link circuit, thus converting
AC–DC–AC → AC–AC.
This means that the AC input leads directly to the output of the variable AC supply for the motor. At the same time, any braking energy from the motor is fed back into the grid via the same path without additional components. This results in the following benefits for every customer:
- No DC link circuit → No electrolytic components (capacitors) → Longer service life
- Converts 3-phase AC directly into variable 3-phase output → higher efficiency and longer service life → lower operating costs
- Full 4-quadrant control as standard
- Very simple, efficient feedback of braking energy into the grid → no more braking resistors → remuneration for energy feed-in and lower CO2 consumption
- Better control behaviour in terms of speed, torque and position
- Permanent full torque at v = 0 without any derating
- Significantly lower harmonic interference → no expensive chokes required for compensation
